Misol Ha and Agua Azul

Both of these very different waterfalls are located on the road between Ocosingo and Palenque. If you are visiting the Palenque ruins, then be sure to include these natural wonders in your itinerary.

Although Agua Azul (Blue-Waterfalls) has been experienced significant tourism development over recent years, this natural sight is still unsurpassed. This waterfall consists of a long series of light blue cascades, one after another, surrounded by exuberant, verdant montane rainforest.

To avoid the crowds, it is best to visit during the week or early in the morning if during a national vacation. You can camp at these waterfalls.

Fortunately, there is much less tourism infrastructure at the Misol Ha waterfall which consists of one single waterfall cascading from a height of 35m into a beautiful circular pool below.  The sheer height of the fall, the blue pool and the surrounding tropical vegetation make a gorgeous sight. The pool is suitable for swimming and there are cabins in the forest if you want to stay the night. One claim to fame of this waterfall is that most of the movie Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger was filmed in the jungle by the waterfall.
